My 10 year old has the top bunk and my 2 year old has the bottom.. while it is a beautiful bed, I will say that when my 10 year old at 110 pounds moves around you can definitely feel movement and wobbling from below, but there is a steel bar that runs underneath the top bunk that reassures me that it is secure. It took us a about 3 hours to build, just make sure that the headboard and footboard are in the right facing position bc we had to redo ours. I also will note that the headboard and footboard slats dont fit in snuggly and are wobbly. Pine wood is a softer wood and I am already aware of some dings and dents but am still happy that this is not an MDF product so should hope last still for some years. This should have stated in the listing, but this is meant for a 6” mattress “max”, says that on the cover of the instructions. This also should have had predrilled pilot holes for slates. Threaded inserts would have been even better. I would have even been happy with some pencil marks showing how to evenly space the slates. But honestly you cannot expect too much from a company nowadays and this is probably about as good as the competition gets and is priced around the same.
