Perfect touch for the look that I wanted. I wanted something somewhere between spare contemporary and traditional, which is usually to heavy/fussy for me. This lamp is clean-looking but doesn't look as if it belongs in a cold medical exam-room. I think it fits into the space with a more transitional style without sticking out like a sore thumb. I'm very happy with the result. The uplighting gives the perfect effect for the vaulted ceiling. The lamp is solid and stable. The on/off switch doesn't have the flimsy feel that many others that I've purchased had, so I'm hopeful that this one will hold up longer. I took one star off because assembly was a bit frustrating; I had more than a little difficulty working the electrical cord down inside the tube enough to screw the top of the lamp down completely - a VERY tight fit that took several attempts. This shade was a great replacement for the old, yellow one that broke. It features a soft, bright matte white finish. Although it comes with a cap equipped with two holes for pull chains, only the center chain is functional because the opening is too narrow to use the fan chain—at least for my model of fan.
