I had previously ordered the mattress and slept on it for years so went for it again. Perfect solid wood bed for my needs in a guest bedroom! This bed is excellent, high-quality, and really was not difficult to put together. It was as time-consuming to put together as anyone would think for a solid wood queen size bed (maybe 4 hours total by myself). I am overall impressed with the finished look and quality. I really did not want MDF, but rather a solid looking bed. After putting together the headboard and footboard, you can really tell this is quality pine - they are both so heavy and look fantastic. I also really liked the hardware kit - everything came with little labels and the half moon cams felt secure as you are building this wonderful bed. Now, as for the box spring or bed frame, here's a tip: go with the more low-profile ones if you decide to get the metal box frame I would suggest the lower the better. I decided upon a 5" frame since other reviewer mentioned the 9" was way to high after adding mattress. Well, I used 5" and purchased a nice dreamcloud premier 13" mattress, and IMO it's still too high (see images). Only labeling this bed 4 stars due to the slats not being manufactured closer together. The slats should be 3 inches apart for the best support according to online resources but are 3.5 inches apart. They did not specify otherwise but that’s ok we just got some plywood to help. However outside of that it’s 5 stars all around, looks just like the photo, beautiful color, feels well built. I purchased two of these beds. Before buying, I read several reviews mentioning that mattresses had fallen through, or that the bed had fallen apart. After assembling both frames, I can understand how that could potentially happen — at least with one of them. There was a noticeable difference in material quality between the two beds. One feels solid and sturdy, and the slats seem like they will hold up well. The other felt more fragile during assembly. The “wood” (not real wood) was splintering slightly while we were screwing the parts together, which makes me question the durability over time. Assembly took about 2.5 hours per bed with two people. They look great once assembled, and I really love how they turned out. However, the inconsistency between the two frames makes me think quality control may be an issue.
