We got the twin sized mattress pad, and plan to cut it down to fit a bunk bed in our RV. I think because the pockets on the cover are so deep, it should go around the original mattress and the pad to keep it all in place. The pad is really only 1 3/4" thick and the cover is only about an 1" thick. But, the pad is surprisingly comfortable and the cover has a very luxurious feel to it.
