This fireplace has been such a wonderful addition to my home. I am disabled was able to do the very small amount of “installation” required by myself -one has to screw the legs onto the unit. As the unit itself is lightweight, all is provided, instructions are simple clear, this was a simple, very doable task. I use this fireplace every day. It adds a lovely ambiance to my living room that everyone comments on enjoys. I was anxious ordering this because of the lack of reviews and because of the high price. I selected it because I weigh less than this stove and my strength is moderate at best so anything cast iron was out of the question to move down the stairs of my home. The main caveat to my review is that this is my first wood burning stove so I have nothing to compare it to and it is intended to be primarily decorative so I’m not really testing its heating capacity (also it arrived in June). Overall impressions, it seems really high quality to me. It looks beautiful and functions well. It arrived in pristine condition and held up well to my honestly pretty rough handling of it as I pulled it up and down stairs. Barely a scratch on it despite it tipping over once and slamming down to the ground several times as I pulled it up my porch steps. The metal didn’t even dent during all of that. It is very sturdy. When it comes to the total weight and ease of moving, it is very easy to remove to door so you don’t need to worry about the glass shattering in case there are any mishaps. I was able to pry out the vermiculite board in addition to removing the door which brought the weight down by probably close to 30 lbs. Nothing else was easily removable. For installation, the top of the stove is 39.5 inches. I didn’t measure before sticking it inside another pipe, but the male connector at the top is about 4-5 inches on top of that (I wasn’t sure whether the 39.5 in was the top of the stove or top of the connector when I ordered). The fit between the male connector on the top of the stove and the female pipe is very tight to the point where I had to really fuss with it using pliers and rubber mallet to get it to fit into the female pipe end.. This could have been a wonderful 5-star review ... if only the fireplace worked. The mantel looks wonderful. I love my room with it in it. But this is supposed to be an electrical fireplace, not merely a piece of furniture. It's supposed to heat the room and to display a realistic looking flame. It did none of that when I got it. The remote doesn't work at all. And ever since it arrived, nearly a month ago, I've been trying to get someone to help me fix or replace this. After a few phone calls they promised to send a replacement for the firebox. But then I got an email saying the replacement was canceled. It turns out that was an error. I did get a package, but I had no idea what it was. No indication it came from Wayfair. It didn't look like the firebox. It was some sort of transformer/converter, with all print in Chinese, which I can't read. I finally spent an hour on the phone with a very nice lady at Wayfair, and we figured out that the transformer fixed part of the problem. I got heat! But the remote still doesn't work and I can't access most functions. And if I turn the heat on, I need to burn my fingers to turn it off on the fireplace without the remote. Love these. I have three they are not sturdy and the material is cheap Chinese bent fender. Not one of them aligns correctly and there is a whole song and dance to make the doors close. However once done it ignites easy and gives a lot of heat and a nice flame that can be seen on three sides.
