There chairs were very easy to put together; just had to add the legs. They are closer to vanilla/white than beige. The corded fabric is more the texture of velvet. Because they are being used for a slightly higher table we needed them to be taller than the standard 18 inches. They are perfect. The pillow like seating is very comfortable.
