This entry set has been working great for us. We love having a lever instead of a knob. The only thing is that my husband had to create a notch at a different location and shape for our prehung door, because the one provided did not line up with the location that was pre-notched on our door frame. First, let me tell you that the little "rosette" in the baggy all by itself in this handleset kit needs to be screwed apart. You can't pull the silver part out of it. Get a needle nose pliers and twist/unscrew the silver part out of the rosette. If I had not read this in a previous review we would still be trying to figure this out. No explanation how to do this in the install instructions. The silver part acts as a washer when screwing the lower part of the handleset from the inside door, and then you screw the rosette over the silver disc to cover the inside screw and hole. Okay, with this explanation, this handleset is heavy and well made. A great deal for the price. Love the look on our cabin's front door. We couldn't be happier with it. The instructions are difficult to follow, but if you have changed out any door handle of any kind you can do this. I am a 68 year old woman and I could install this handle so that means you can too.. These vintage style door levers are constructed of diecast and come in a beautiful finish. They feature a heavy weighted casting design and unique Silencer bushings for smooth operation. This set of levers is designed for indoor use only, and it includes one 2-3/4 inch steel spindle, and one 3-5/8 inch steel spindle with 3/8 inch-20 threads. These French style levers fit 1/4 inch square drive spindle systems commonly found in antique and vintage door hardware sets, and with the two (2) provided square spindles, it can adjust to accommodate doors of different thicknesses. The lever shanks include setscrews for fastening to the square spindles. All other components of matching vintage design must be purchased separately to include the internal mortise lock body, the door rosettes, the trim and strike plates, or the latch and fasteners. Note: These levers cannot be used on pre-bored doors that have large, newer style doorknob holes without first prepping them to receive this older-style hardware. Installation tip: Because the fasteners of the rosettes (purchased separately) require a solid surface to mount to, the large 2-1/8 inch (approximate size) holes must first be filled with a hardening filler, to then be able to receive the rosette fasteners. Products like Fix-It-All and Bondo Body Filler have worked well for some, but care must be used to avoid damaging any prefinished door surfaces during application and finishing.
