This is a great sturdy and handsome piece of furniture. Made of beautiful hard wood and metal frame. The finish is a little darker than I thought it would be, but still a perfect match for my bedroom, where I use it for my computer, printer and other items. There are adjustable feet at the bottom of the four legs, in case your floor is uneven, etc. This is a really nice piece. Unlike some other folks here who left reviews, mine does not have any strange or strong scent. It smells completely fine and normal. Everything came well packaged, with just the right amount of packing materials. There was a slight (very small) chip on the very bottom of the shelf I used on the bottom. Not from shipping, likely a small defect in manufacturing. They offered me a 15% discount and I accepted. I turned that shelf to face the back and I am satisfied. Came beautifully packaged! No dings. The color is slightly more orangey than I wanted but I’m okay with that. I love that there is no assembly, and the wood is fairly good quality for the price. Just two negatives - I wish I could remove the nubs (that join the units together) on the top unit, and the company sticker on the unit was a bear to get off - I don’t know why companies put them on the unit like that! We spray painted metal towers and covered shelves with white wood grain contact paper to lighten up this dark set. Quite easy to put together with two people with half stands propped on ottoman. Did put together top and bottom with holes facing wrong way and had to remove and flip one bottom tower so that joining screws found holes. Very wobbly and definitely anchored to wall on either side. A contemporary update on a traditional design, this solid wood etagere bookcase features two shelves, x-frame side braces, and an open back design. For a classic arrangement in your living room, start by rolling out a paisley area rug for a pop of pattern, then arrange an oversized leather sofa with nailhead trim and a tonal striped wingback chair around a polished wood coffee table with wrought iron sides. Place this design against the wall beside your television stand and use one shelf to store your DVD collection, and the other to display your favorite reads. Accessorize the shelves with laser-etched hurricane candles, framed family photos, and a vase of freshly-cut daffodils to round out the design.

This is a pretty darn nice, sturdy bookcase which isn't cheap plywood and that's a pleasant surprise at this price point. It fits perfectly between my computer desk and file cabinet where I needed shelfs for reference books. I deducted one star because of a few issues. Maybe I should have deducted two! It took me a little over an hour to put it together myself, mostly because the pictograph instructions aren't the best so I took my time and studied it, then went back to the website to download one of three other PDF instructions that seemed a little easier to follow. Instructions state to screw shelves and braces to both sides of the bookcase and then place the top piece. I've put together pieces with shelves before and I always find that it's easier to screw all pieces into one side, then flip it and attach the other side. Two of the holes were not drilled properly, making it difficult to get the side screws in and one of the shelves wasn't finished properly, having a weird tacky area where it appears the black paint was missed and something sticky was left. At some point, I'll have to give it a light sanding and repaint that shelf, but I don't have time for that nonsense today. Also, the instructions don't tell you that you'll need a rubber mallet to tap in the little plugs that cover the screws, but you will definitely need one to get them seated in properly.. Gloria. I am happy with this Solid Wood Ladder Shelf. I ordered it in the light wood finish, and it looks even better in person. The color is bright and neutral, making it easy to match with the rest of my furniture. It adds a nice decorative touch to the room without taking up a lot of space. Assembly was easy, it only took me 20 minutes to put together and the instructions were straightforward, and all the parts were clearly labeled. I was able to put the entire shelf together by myself without any help. The pieces weren't too heavy, so moving them around during assembly wasn't difficult. Once everything was put together, I was impressed with how sturdy it felt, I wasn’t sure if it would be or not and it was very sturdy. One feature I especially love is that each shelf has a raised lip around three sides. It's a small detail that makes a big difference because it helps keep everything from sliding off the shelves. I don't have to worry about picture frames or small decorations getting bumped off the edge, and it gives the shelf a more refined look. The five shelves provide plenty of storage and display space while still maintaining a modern design. This is a really good bookshelf for the money in the past I bought a different version of this bookshelf that had to be assembled.
