Works well, if you are able to set up. The clock face is made of pieces of paper which are inserted into tiny slots on the clock. After delivery a lot of the pieces were misaligned or off completely. There is everything to love about this clock. It looks deceptively simple but does everything I expect of an alarm clock. Small enough to fit most anywhere but the dial is large and easy to read. Hands light up in the dark and with a touch of the top button, the dial lights up but comes on "low" and gradually becomes bright and fades, all in a few seconds but enough time to read the dial well. It's lightweight. Does not have a ticking sound at all. Takes an AA battery. The back comes off easily. No prying! Alarm and time set dials work well and are easy to reach. Snooze button on top. Overall, it’s a very nice retro style clockradioalarm. The speaker sounds decent enough for what it is and connectivity to Bluetooth is easy and seamless. Once set, time stays accurate, and while it doesn’t specifically state, it seems to have some sort of battery back-up as time stayed accurate during a power outage. Only knock is that the radio tuning is not selectable to a specific frequency- it runs a scan at 1st use and then you scroll through a memory of “found” stations to tune in. If you place it in a spot with bad reception, you have to move it, plug it back in, and scan all over again. The earth clock is the reproduction of the original classic, the Ball clock, that Takenobu Igarashi designed for OUN in 1987. There are two styles of the clock face and two colors of the clock body (black and white). Two variations are available, one has grooving on the clock surface and the other is in the form of a smooth sphere (earth clock less). At that time when Igarashi started to design clocks, he noticed that he had never seen a clock with a spherical shape. The sphere shape makes us imagine the earth. No, it has been manufactured and set to sing from 7 am to 9 pm. The previous version had a 6 am starting time but after some parent feedback, we are now having them from 7 am to suit the kid's wake-up time for school. 5. What sounds will this clock make? Once every hour, the door of the cuckoo clock will be opened, and the bird will be popping out and sing "Kookoo, Kookoo" according to the hour, for example, at 1 o'clock, it will sing once, and at noon, the bird will sing "Kookoo" twelve times. This clock does not have noisy flashing noise like others, purely just "Kookoo''. 6. How do I register for the 2-year warranty? The instruction is full in the package, you may just register your clock online to be for qualified the 2-years warranty.

One note for potential buyers: the front, top and sides of the "black" clock are actually wood-grained charcoal grey plastic. Only the back is black. I will keep it because the clock's size, design and functionality were my priorities.
