Great for cutting bread or any other food of soft substance with a tough skin or crust. The offset style keeps knives from hitting the cutting surface. A great value for this go to utility knife. I own several other Shun knives, the edge retention is great, and I appreciate the handle design as well, making the knife extremely agile and precise to use. Gourmet Settings steak knives will be the sharpest tools in the drawer! They've sourced the highest grade 13/0 stainless steel to create a steak knife with a serrated edge that runs the full length of the blade for maximum cutting surface. Perfectly weighted and made with heat-forged stainless steel, these knives will cut through any steak like butter – and their quality is guaranteed for years to come.

I bought two sets of these to replace the bargain bin steak knives I've had forever. I love the single-tang construction, and I can throw them in the dishwasher (because I'm lazy). They have nice heft, cut well, and look nice. I almost wish they weren't serrated, but that's a very minor complaint.. Hannah. San Ramon, CA. Tue Dec 16 2025

Helps maintain your soras. The Sora 9" Honing Steel is used to hone your knives that are to gently realign the cutting edge of your Shun cutlery. With each use of your knife, the edge naturally bends over just a tiny bit. The edge is still sharp, but the sharpest part isn’t making contact with the food. The answer is honing. It realigns the edge and prolongs the sharpness. This honing steel has 2 surfaces a smooth 1 for every day honing and a micro-ribbed 1 for weekly honing. It has a built-in angle on the handle, which makes it easy to hone your knives to the correct 16° Shun angle.

Great tool but a bit oddly designed with partial honing grooves.. Eric. Redlands, CA. Sun Oct 23 2022
