The Newport is simple at its best; tailored for any room, this mantel is created from medium-density fiberboard also known as MDF. MDF is a composite wood and is very commonly used for furniture, cabinetry, shelving, and decorative moldings. Mantel ships in 3 pieces; 2 legs and 1 header. The legs attach easily to the header with nuts and bolts. Mitered hanger board assembly is included for easy installation as well as a 3-piece mitered scribe molding set to hide any gaps after installation. This mantel has a 1 1/2" projection off of the wall leaving a nice pocket behind the mantel to accommodate your tile, stone, marble, etc. Projection: 1 1/2" Interior width: 48" Interior height: 40" Width outside leg to outside leg at base: 58" Shelf length: 65" Shelf depth: 7" Overall height: 51" Weight: 60 pounds. Look for the pearl inlay that graces the right-hand side of the shelf as proof that you have received an authentic pearl mantel. Paint grade only. It arrived nicely packed, but I took one star away as it did not come with the 2 inch wood screws needed to do its install! It also did not come with instructions for installation. This meant searching online for instructions and having to go get the screws needed for the install. Love the top of this fireplace!! It’s hollow but looks beautiful. We love the look of this fireplace even the original color looked nice. The other reviews are true the panels chip very easy at the corners but it wasn’t a problem for us bc we wanted a black fireplace. It’s kind of silly we bought this to paint it BUT we loved the look just not the color we wanted plus it was on sale and other black fireplaces were over 1500 dollars so we saved 800 with a little labor..
