It's hard to find a review that spells out the important details so here you go - it's whisper quiet with just flames while the heat is off, it's really not that loud when the heat comes on, the heat definitely won't warm up a room unless it's a small room, no menu lights while it's operating, the flames are an excellent replica for an electric fireplace, even so the price seems pretty high for what you get here. I wanted to add it to an old media cabinet to get some year round ambiance in my hearth room so a serious heat source wasn't as important to me. There are also a handful of reviews that suggest it's loud or it makes a clicking sound and I believe this is what happens if something is wrong with the unit or there's dust in the motor, etc. If you hear a sound while it's just flames, or the heat is ridiculously loud you should contact Dimplex.. The stone parts came in one box, the mantle piece in another, and the heating element/fireplace in the third. It was so easy to setup! The entire unboxing, putting it together and cleanup took just about 1 hour. I do recommend a second person to help with setup because it is a big fireplace over 5 feet wide and 4 feet tall. The fireplace comes with a remote control and you can change the color of the fire, the intensity of the heat, the brightness of the flame and it turns on and off with the push of a button. You can also use the fireplace without the heater turned on if you just want to enjoy the ambience of the fireplace. IIt is recommended for use in 120 volt 3-prong outlets. I have tried several electric log sets and been extremely disappointed. Nothing on the market that’s a log set looks close to being a real fire experience. But this Napoleon sets comes closest. I assembled it myself in about 30 minutes. Instructions were easy. The “glowing fire “ could be more realistic, the flames could be higher and wider and the blower on the heater could be quieter. I paid much more for other log sets that couldn’t hold a candle (or flame ) to this set.
