Do not buy this! The instructions where very clear but the way it is constructed it is not well built. We assembled the entire top portion of the bookcase, which went fine. However the parts they send to put it together with do not hold the joints tightly together like a piece of furniture should be. Constructing and attaching the base was one of the last steps. The base is only comprised of two large side panels and two narrow strips across the back, which the manufacturer apparently thinks is enough to support the large hutch on top. This is not the case - it is very wobbly and is dangerous, especially if you have small children. We were afraid to even touch it once it was standing and the base ended up breaking into pieces. Took a while to put together but was not difficult. I really like the look of it. It’s exactly what I wanted. Took a star off because a couple screws didn’t line up.
