Took a couple of hours to assemble with a drill gun. Not terribly complicated. Material is part wood and part cork. After assembly, the desk looks as expected and pictured. Beautiful desk set! Purchased the small and larger desk and hutch and all 3 came fully assembled. Everything was packaged well, no damage to any of the pieces. The boxes were extremely heavy and hard to move upstairs but aside from that it was nice to just unpack everything and move it into place. The items were back ordered but came much earlier than expected, still waiting on the 2 bookcases but those are also scheduled to come sooner than expected. Love my new office setup!. Yvette. NV. Overall, I’m extremely happy with this computer desk! It arrived quickly and was fairly easy to assemble. You will definitely need two people to be able to install the top hutch part. It’s quite heavy. Not only should you have two people, but it should be similarly tall people who are fairly strong as you have to lift it up onto pegs. I decided to only put one of the door on the top because I want to place decorative items in the other spaces. My only complaint is that the stickers it comes with to cover up the screws are not of a enough thickness to cover up the darkness of the screw, which does make it look kind of cheap when you’re up close. I’m hoping it won’t be very noticeable once I get items on the desk. Overall, it’s a great piece of furniture if you’re looking for a larger computer desk and I would recommend it!. Cori. Do not buy this! The instructions where very clear but the way it is constructed it is not well built. We assembled the entire top portion of the bookcase, which went fine. However the parts they send to put it together with do not hold the joints tightly together like a piece of furniture should be. Constructing and attaching the base was one of the last steps. The base is only comprised of two large side panels and two narrow strips across the back, which the manufacturer apparently thinks is enough to support the large hutch on top. This is not the case - it is very wobbly and is dangerous, especially if you have small children. We were afraid to even touch it once it was standing and the base ended up breaking into pieces. Took a while to put together but was not difficult. I really like the look of it. It’s exactly what I wanted. Took a star off because a couple screws didn’t line up.
