To measure your size correctly, remove the existing vent cover and measure the size of the duct. The duct opening size is what should be ordered. The Ribbon grille is a resin (polyurethane) decorative vent cover that is light in weight yet sturdy and strong. Grilles are unfinished and ready for you to primer and paint to achieve the perfect color for your setting. Each grille is made using a casting process that allows for a three-dimensional look. Grilles will not rust and are not prone to corrosion which makes them excellent for high-humidity areas and dry areas alike. Ribbon grilles are flat on the back and have no inserts. Grilles should not be used on the floor and are only for wall and ceiling applications for central air conditioning and heating systems. Due to the nature of the curing process, grilles can vary very slightly in size so please take the measurements as an approximate size. All grilles should be installed using the provided screws to ensure a safe application. Please note, that these grilles are intended to be primed/painted and will come in an off-white beige color.

It's almost perfect for where I put it. I have a very high (~12') octagonal window in my bedroom, and it's impossible to find a shade that's right for it. But the sun shines in that window right in my eyes and wakes me up at 6am every morning, so I wanted to cover that window without making it look ridiculous. I have white plantation shutters on the lower windows, so it looks nice with those. The reason I didn't give it a higher rating is because there was a choice between "functional" and "non-functional" versions of this cover, but the terms weren't defined. I assumed they meant that functional has moving slats, and non-functional was slats that don't move. So I ordered the functional version to be sure I could close them all the way But what they meant was that functional has holes between the slats (for allowing airflow in an attic, I guess), and non-functional is solid - no holes. I should have gotten the non-functional version, because it would have blocked all the light. But I couldn't wait another day to get rid of that early morning light, so I just installed it right away and started getting the benefit of blocked light in the morning. The ceiling vent is one of the most overlooked details in a room: the CleanVent sits flat to the ceiling making it part of the ceiling, not an obstruction. The CleanVent brings a hint of design to your ceiling, eliminating the cluttered look of vents protruding into a flat ceiling. The CleanVent is a magnetic, screw-less, retrofit vent cover: featuring hidden air flow tabs. It is easily repositioned when installed, which can fix the problem of improperly installed, crooked, or misaligned vents. The CleanVent attaches via magnets screwed into the vent box itself, pulling the vent box tight to the ceiling which can eliminate vent sweating. Easily removed for cleaning and painting. Each CleanVent is manufactured in the USA out of .040 5052-H32 aluminum, (not plastic). The CleanVent and defusing screen are powder-coated in gloss white and can be painted. The Inner airflow tabs are .040 stainless steel and can be positioned in any direction. Please note the CleanVent sizes are for inside vent measurements, the overall size of the CleanVent is 1-1/2 inches bigger on all 4 sides for the frame around the vent opening. For example, a 6 x 6 vent overall size is 9 x 9, which gives plenty of room for covering up ceiling stains and crooked installed vents.
