I decided on and purchased this mantle for many reasons. 1) It being a Pearl Mantle let me know it would be made with quality. 2) It’s real wood and not some sort of plastic or pressed board. 3) it’s decorative and accentuates my decor perfectly and 4) the cost wasn’t cheap, but wasn’t unreasonably high! It arrived nicely packed, but I took one star away as it did not come with the 2 inch wood screws needed to do its install! It also did not come with instructions for installation. This meant searching online for instructions and having to go get the screws needed for the install. All that being said, I am still pleased with the mantle as it makes a beautiful addition to my fireplace and living room decor.. Liz J.. Spring Valley, CA. Wed Jun 24 2026

My mantel turned out wonderfully after staining. Make sure you follow instructions and use specific type of stain to get great consistent color coverage. We installed better brackets as the weight support limit was not enough for what I wanted to place on top. The additional corbels went nicely and added additional heft to the mantel. Great product.. Pearl Mantels features fine furniture quality, stunning details, and classic designs that will enhance any decor. Really great quality. But it’s HEAVY. The weight isn’t listed anywhere in the description, at least not when I purchased it. (I double checked to make sure.) I’m pretty handy, but there’s no way I can install this by myself. I’d also feel a little nervous about my 100 year old fireplace holding all of that weight. It’d probably be fine, but I know I’d be thinking about it. I bought a lighter mantel and installed it no problem. Still trying to figure how how to return this one…. Tv. Sun Sep 13 2026

Niches have been used in homes for almost 2000 years, first made of white marble in Nero's home. Most niches are still white, and for many years were mostly made of plaster. Now that many modern architectural products are made of urethane, custom millwork and details such as recessed niches have become affordable for any home improvement project. Niches are distinctive architectural accents. Often used to display sculptures, vases, clocks, plants and flowers, niches are beautiful and functional details that add value to any home interior. They are often used in main hallways, dining rooms, foyers, and staircases. An important aspect of a niche is its ability to concentrate or disperse light, so its placement should be based on the availability of light, either sunlight or interior lighting fixtures. Ceiling accent lights are often added as a compliment above a niche. Niches made of urethane can be easy to install for anyone, simply cut a hole in the drywall and place the niche inside. These niches will also require little maintenance in the future, and offer beauty and value to your home for decades to come. Ekena Millwork offers niches in varying heights, widths, and depths to fit the scale of your home.
