This bookcase will do the job. It's not quite as sturdy as I would prefer. This is assembled as a bottom and a top (the bottom could be used independently but the top couldn't as is), so the longest pieces of wood aren't the length of the height. The wood is thinner than I would prefer. So altogether, it'll do the job but it doesn't have a very solid feel to it. I like the cubbies instead of just one longer shelf. And I really like the blue color. Other names for this blue could be Colonial Blue, Williamsburg Blue. It has that blue gray feel to it without actually looking blue gray. I guess it's muted. Love this shoe bench. Perfect size for the area I bought it for, the walk through from the garage into the house. Shoes were always left on the floor to trip over and now they can fit neatly in the shoe cubby holes. My husband's size 13 shoes also fit. Love it and highly recommend this product. It took me a while to put together but that was because I kept getting pieces backwards. Totally my error and not due to the instructions. They also included extra pieces which was very thoughtful.
