I ordered a cantilever umbrella that had a metal X base which couldn't support the weight of the umbrella so I ordered this to hold it in place. It took about $15-20 worth of sand from the local hardware store to fill it up. For me the base is SO bulky though. Perhaps this isn't something that can be avoided due to the nature of the item and the weight it needs to compensate for but it takes up a lot of space so just make sure you plan for that. As the rating scale indicates, this is JUST WHAT I NEED. For years, I have used cement paving stones to secure our giant umbrella. But those got very dirty. In comes this base. As shown, it is four pieces that securely fit on my cantilever umbrella. They were extremely easy to fill and not too heavy for me to carry myself. The water seems to be sealed in there tight. This does its job, as far as we know. We just set it up today and you can see it doesn’t fall straighteven which I hate but it might change over time or if we move it around a little bit. The thing I don’t like is that the center seems like something should be there but it’s just empty. It makes it look cheap like something is missing.
