It’s safe to say the level of detail in the instruction manual is one of the best we have ever seen! And the organization of the parts was *chef’s kiss*. We put it together in just over 3 hours while also wrangling our young hyenas - I mean kids. We have built dressers and desks and tables and wayyy too many Hot Wheels tracks. They all prepared us for this experience. And this was far easier than we thought it would be. My husband was able to be the only one up on the ladder while I took the role of assistant and hyena wrangling. I love this pergola! I had been debating one for years and finally found one with all the features I wanted. We dont have any trees so theres no natural covering, and the backyard gets blasted with sun during the day. This pergola is perfect for manually adjusting the 4 different sections of louvers for the amount of sun wanted. We havent used the curtains or netting yet but I love having the option when needed. We paid for assembly which occurred over 3 days and 3 different crews. Caution- I dont recommend using the included anchors for anchoring to your base, unless your base is absolutely perfectly level. Our base is brick pavers so those anchors didnt work. They had to use tapcons (concrete screws). The pergola has been a perfect addition to our backyard!. Diane. Sterling Heights, MI. I purchased a 10 foot and an 8‘ x 10 pergola. We put them side-by-side and we have created a beautiful area which will be a setting area and a hot tub area. The directions were a little complicated, but we got everything done without a problem. We built the big one on Saturday and the one on Sunday. The second was a breeze after building the first one. This gazebo looks amazing in our yard, and seems very sturdy after a strong thunderstorm tested it yesterday for the first time. But as several reviewers mentioned, the assembly was ROUGH! In some spots the instructions were very unclear, with images that didn't accurately represent the process at a given step. It definitely takes two people in some spots, even with more than one ladder for support while assembling. But now that it's done we really love it. So--it is correctly rated as "DIY--Experienced", and will take many more hours than the instructions say unless you have at least two tall ladders and four tall workers to help put it together. I’m very pleased with this purchase as was my final big purchase and project in my garden renovation. The build was fairly straightforward and took about 7 hours to complete with 2 teens and myself. The only issue we encountered was that several pre drilled holes for the top lattices were a bit off center. However we were able to correct. Pretty nice and sturdy. It comes in 7 boxes + box with screens and curtains if that’s the model purchased. I wish the assembly instructions were in box one and that the instructions told you where the hardware was, The instructions and hardware are in box 5. Make sure all parts are not damaged before starting assembly especially the key structure parts. Some of my louvers were dented but the didn’t effect my assembly. They were replaced, but it took a week to get the replacements. Wayfair and manufacturer were responsive and easy to deal with but it took time to get the replacement parts. I assembled the structure and later just added replacement louvers. Posts and crossbeams are aluminum, louvers and bases are steel. Overall very happy with it.. Witold. Colchester, CT.
