The flames were not of high quality like we've had on a different electric fireplace we had, and it seems like it consists of a bulb inside a spinning drum to get the effect, which would be OK, but the spinning drum makes more noise than you'd expect and detracts from the whole effect. Summary: The mantel is awesome. The firebox, much less than awesome. Wish I could replace just the firebox with something better. Very heavy and sturdy. More pieces than I expected but it is not hard to put together. There are some visible seams when fully assembled but it's still a nice fireplace at this price point.
