Purchased MTR2303SS this morning and spent a couple of hours installing it this afternoon. I replaced a 40 year old unit. Space was a little tight and I struggled to get the "EZ" brackets in the right place. Installing a range hood in general is not as easy as it sounds in most cases, particularly if the existing wiring isn't in quite the right place or the ducting is off by a 1/2 inch, etc. Don't forget you need to be ambidextrous and work putting pressure "up" to screw into the underneath of cabinets. In the end, with a couple of breaks, I did manage to get it installed by myself, much of that time was just getting the old one out. I'm sure an experienced person has tricks to get things right, but I did not. I must admit the brackets do help hold things in place, once you get them right (maybe a template would help?). Essentially, you get the brackets installed, then feed the wiring through, then put the securing screws in place. I also ran into trouble where the bottom of the cabinet door was too low so I had to back off the screws and put a shim in to lower the hood 1/4 inch. I'm not a fan of the "beeping" with every button press and with the 2 stage light (which is handy) you have to cycle through both settings to turn it off as there is no direct way. These are the reasons I only gave 4 out of 5. The LED lighting is great and 2 light levels is an improvement over our old unit. The 3 speed fan is great and is an improvement over our old Hi/Low fan (and I don't find it "noisy", its a fan and will make noise). The timer function will be very useful as our old unit didn't have this option.. David777. Ottawa, ON. Sun Jul 20 2025

The Broan line of make-up air dampers removes the unnecessary energy cost penalty from the equation. Broan Make-Up Air Dampers operate only when it is necessary to let compensation air into the home. This is accomplished by the SmartSense fans and/or selected BEST or Broan range hoods communicating with the Broan Make-Up Air Damper when it is time to open and let compensation air into the home.

Purchased this during a kitchen remodel when we determined that we needed a make-up air duct. We had purchased a Thermador Hood for our kitchen when we realized it likely was going to pull out to negative pressure in the home. This has worked great with the pressure switch that automatically opens the damper when the pressure builds in duct. Only had a problem with the pressure sensor on install, found out quickly from tech support that it can only be mounted upright, we had not. When I corrected that, it functioned as it was supposed to.. Jhakes. Green Bay Wi. Wed Oct 03 2018

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was drawn to the Mantra 30"range hood for its sleek stainless steel design and quiet operation. The 490 CFM blower seemed powerful enough for my kitchen setup, and features like SmartSense ventilation and ENERGY STAR certification were definite pluses. The unit looks fantastic-even in the box. The stainless steel finish is modern, clean, and aesthetically appealing. It's clear the design was thoughtfully executed to complement a wide range of kitchen styles. I'm genuinely excited to install it once I'm able to work around my personal installation challenges. Unfortunately, I ran into issues that prevented me from completing the installation by my review deadline. There wasn't enough detailed information available to determine whether this unit would be compatible with my project. I specifically needed a hood that could be installed beneath a microwave, and this model doesn't support that configuration. My star rating is based solely on appearance and the clarity of instructions. I'm only deducting one point due to the inability to comment on its functionality at this time. I'd recommend future buyers confirm compatibility and installation logistics before purchasing. Photo included is of the boxed unit, but I'm looking forward to seeing it in action soon!. Danikas. This product features a totally enclosed condenser motor and a large, double suction blower wheel to quietly move air. A small wheel turning very fast will create more noise than a large wheel turning more slowly for a given airflow. This Whisper-ceiling bathroom fan uses a wide blower wheel that moves a large amount of air at reduced RPMs. The blower wheel is also designed to draw air in from both sides, which helps keep the noise down, as there is more area for the air to enter the wheel. In fact, it is quiet enough that you might not even know it's on.
