I gave 4 stars because 1 of the tall doors came with only 2 holes bored for the hinges. So we had to wait for it to be replaced before we could finish. Wayfair is very fast to respond to damage or parts issue and they worked with the manufacturer to get the door replaced in just a few days! It did take 2 people to place the top of the unit onto the bottom half safely. This is a very nice piece and went together very well. We are using this as a shoe cabinet. Wayfair calls it a bookshelf, but I don’t think I would ever recommend it for books — the shelves are not adjustable and are way too short for books. They are perfect for our shoes, though! Even our boots fit nicely on the taller shelves. I am giving four stars because the construction of the doors, though cute, is not very sturdy at all. If you have active pets or kids I think they’re likely to break easily. Hopefully ours hold up since it’s in an out of the way location in our home, but only time will tell. Looks as pictured. The drawer feels sturdy, and the cabinet doors were easily aligned. However, this bookcase comes in a lot of different pieces with over thirty steps. It wasn't difficult to assemble but did take about 6.5 hours to complete with one person, and while it came with a small screwdriver, I would highly recommend just using your own larger screwdriver, if you have it, to spare your fingers.. These bookshelves look amazing in my craftroom. We purchased 3 of them, each one took my husband approximately 3 hours to put together. He then used his own hardware to secure them together to make it look like one large unit. The doors all open well, the shelving seems sturdy enough for my supplies. I only purchased these because of the huge discount, you get what you pay for. If you are looking for “built in craftsmanship,” this option is not for you. We knew we would be downsizing in a few years and did not want to invest a huge amount of money for built ins. Having said that, these units are the showcase of my craftroom!
