This is a real wood bookcase, and it’s incredibly solid! The instructions were clear and easy to follow. The shelf was so heavy that it shipped in two boxes. I was a bit disappointed that it arrived on separate days, but I was excited to assemble it right away. The only complaints I have are a few minor things. The little stickers that cover the holes don’t match the color of the shelf. The inside top edge of the shelf wasn’t stained completely, and there are a couple of small nicks in the wood.. Pam. luv the versatility of this unit and the ability to add more sections down the road. also love the simple but elegant design, my only dislike was the fact that brown is no longer available, also the instructions indicate that you would need to screw the top shelving unit into the basedrawers. I dislike, putting wood screw holes in the base. They should of designed it where instead of using wood screws, you could use machine screws to take it apart without damaging the wood.. William. Beautiful bookshelves! I got 2 and put them flush together (the top part is detachable). Each bookcase came in 3 packages and about 88 lbs each. I added assembly and the service was great, as the guy carried the packages upstairs and did it faster than I could do it myself without going crazy. The only note is that the drawers take some time to align, as it had to snap into a hook on the back and onto the rail. The LED lights can sync to 1 remote. the bookcase is great. the color is slightly off from the pictures but i expected that based on reviews and it matches my other furniture as a result. maybe have more ergonomic philips head screwdriver ready because the one it comes with hurt my palm quite a bit. only complaint is the mechanism to keep the bookshelf from tilting was confusing. im just going to get a different earthquake strap..
