The top of the headboard does require occasional dusting and vacuuming because dust can accumulate there, but its not enough to be a hassle. This bed was very easy to build. I built it by myself with maybe an hour a little bit more than an hour. The only thing that wasn’t clear was where to put the slats when you were adding that in but again you can use your best judgment of where to add in the screws.
