I was a backer for the pre-production of the CATastrophe: A Game of 9 Lives on Kickstarter. I was able to purchase exclusive limited editions mini posters of some of the cats featured. First things first, the frame does seem to be constructed of wood but the 'wood grain' finish is a veneer. If you're hoping for a raw wood look this may not be the frame you want. That being said, it is a very well-constructed frame and I was so thrilled to get it in a size that's otherwise difficult to find (6"x6"). Acrylic really does have superior clarity when compared to glass - it will scratch much more easily, of course, but so long as the frame isn't in a high-traffic spot that really shouldn't be an issue..
