It’s firm enough so the sofa will definitely keep its shape especially if you’re planning to sleep on it. However it’s very comfortable to sit and sleep on. I tried it myself! It turns into a mattress very easily. You just lift the cushion, it’s one piece although it looks like two, all the way up until you hear a click and the back rest stays down. I got this for my guest room as an extra place to sleep! Sofa came in assembled. You just put the arms and legs which was easy to do.
