I have had this for a few months now and it has worked well. I was worried because some other reviews say it failed quickly. But I have a very active one-year old and this has kept him contained so far. It is simple enough that my 4 year old can unlock it to get out of the room as she needs, but it will keep the one year old contained for a while. Very pleased with this gate, which we've had for about 6 months. It has to be installed to the wall, which is a bit of a negative, but it's quite sturdy. Our puppy learned to get out of a couple of other gates, but wasn't able to defeat this one. A larger dog (ours is 40 lbs) might be able to jump it, but ours didn't try. The doorway frame is metal so seems quite sturdy. The slats are wood and our dog did try to chew through them, but we sprayed them with bitter apple, which stopped him.
