It is very nice and more sturdy that I thought it would be. We didn’t bolt it to the deck because we didn’t want to drill into Trex. But we did bolt it to the house which worked good. The instructions are a little confusing in some parts because the pictures are tiny. And after I sliced my finger pretty good on the metal roof, I understood why they give you gloves. Razor sharp. This freestanding outdoor gazebo pergola is really great. It was not that hard to put together, and the directions are really good. So…I was super excited to get this - and I do love the amount of shade it provides outside of our unit behind our home. Initially, we put it up against our house, but it’s not an exact fit for our back deck, so we moved it to the extended portion of our lot, where we have a couple of buildings; I like it much better out there. My husband put it together, and did say that it is labor intensive, and even more so if you jump in without reading the instructions first - so he highly recommended reading the instructions before getting started. Also; you definitely want to secure it to a building or something - it is heavy enough, but probably not so heavy that a hard windstorm might not send it packing. We have ours mounted, so no worries. I had installers handle the installation and other than some challenges with drilling it into my cement pad, it seemed to go fine. It certainly looks nice, however, there is no way to affix mosquito netting/screen to it due to the width/square shape of the rim around the top edge. Turned out nice. Had this professionally installed and mounted the post in concrete blocks to give more stability. The metal pieces itself is lightweight aluminum but when connected together it’s sturdy. Only gripe are the shade connector poles. Their means of connecting could be improved because they slide off & disconnect from one another every now & then but so far holds up well with rain when shade is pulled back. I have shopped these type of patio canopy for a couple of years and decided to give this one a try. Materials were good quality and it went together easily. All parts were included and no damage during shipping. As it seems with most installation instructions these days, they do take several readings to figure out each step. My wife and I are 69 yrs old and we installed it in about 12 hours total work time. I did mount it to the end of my garage and it seems very secure.
