It is definitely darker than the photos show, more of a very dark gray. I assume it will fade some to a lighter gray, similar to what is show. FYI - you will need to pre-purchase a 4x10, to cut in half. These will be used to place in holes dug roughly 36 inches deep and set in concrete. Hopefully that saves someone else a trip. So far so good. It was a pain to put together by myself, but it looks very nice. I wonder how much it will support in terms of climbing plants because it is not what I would consider heavy duty.
