One year ago I bought a cheaper pergola from another company; it had the nylon roof you pull back with a cord, no side screens available. The roof was flimsy and noisy whenever there was a breeze, and if you forgot to close it tight before a rain, the weight of the water was going to tear it . It actually wasn’t 10x10 as advertised, maybe 9x9, and the sun came under the east & west sides, no you were seldom shielded from the sun. So I tried Wayfair after noticing my neighbor’s, got the same one only I ordered the pulldown screens for 2 sides. It also has a louvered metal roof ( huge improvement), we love it! We bought the 20x12 to go over our back patio. The house has an eave so we measured and confirmed the stated height of the pergola would fit under the eave. The pergola ended up being several inches higher than the specs. I think 103 inches high when it was complete. Because of this, my husband had to buy a new blade to cut the rear poles several inches He also has to drill new holes. This worked out well but took several hours to address. The instructions aren’t great but we were able to follow them with minimal errors. Putting all the poles together was tedious but to be expected for this size project. Actually raising the pieces and attaching them to make the frame was not very difficult and we were easily able to accomplish it with three people. We had a downpour a day after putting it up, and only one spot has a drop, so I would say it’s pretty water tight. My husband doesn’t love that the roof isn’t opaque, so we may end up painting it. We’ll see. Other than the height issue, I’m pretty pleased with the quality for the price. Turned out nice. Had this professionally installed and mounted the post in concrete blocks to give more stability. The metal pieces itself is lightweight aluminum but when connected together it’s sturdy. Only gripe are the shade connector poles. Their means of connecting could be improved because they slide off & disconnect from one another every now & then but so far holds up well with rain when shade is pulled back.
