One year ago I bought a cheaper pergola from another company; it had the nylon roof you pull back with a cord, no side screens available. The roof was flimsy and noisy whenever there was a breeze, and if you forgot to close it tight before a rain, the weight of the water was going to tear it . It actually wasn’t 10x10 as advertised, maybe 9x9, and the sun came under the east & west sides, no you were seldom shielded from the sun. So I tried Wayfair after noticing my neighbor’s, got the same one only I ordered the pulldown screens for 2 sides. It also has a louvered metal roof ( huge improvement), we love it! Sturdy and well made, instructions were fairly clear and with a one man assembly expect an all day project, but with 2 people who are fairly handy should be a breeze. It is very nice and more sturdy that I thought it would be. We didn’t bolt it to the deck because we didn’t want to drill into Trex. But we did bolt it to the house which worked good. The instructions are a little confusing in some parts because the pictures are tiny. And after I sliced my finger pretty good on the metal roof, I understood why they give you gloves. Razor sharp. The quality of the awning seems very good and it is attractive. I would agree with all of the reviews I read about how hard it was to assemble. I absolutely love this awning. It’s exactly what I was looking for. It is very well priced and looks very pretty. Sorry for the delayed review, but I did need to hire someone to install it. The assembly and install were a little challenging, even for a master electrician. It wasn't the level of difficulty but rather very vague instructions and more than one incorrect picture. However, we prevailed. Warning: DO NOT remove the tape and zip ties from the arms of the hardware. They are spring-loaded and should not be released until the awning has been hung. Otherwise, it'll be like trying to put a cat in a bucket of water. (we were smart about this) To assemble, have a helper on standby to pull the awning through the roller channel while someone else pushes it. A kid can help with this part. One person can assemble the main hardware. To install the brackets to the home, one person is fine as long as they have the correct drill bits and measure correctly. The brackets are great quality; however, they may not sit flush and level to the wall. We placed 2x2 blocks of wood behind each bracket to fill the empty space and make the install strong and level. To install the awning, you'll want a strong teen or adult to assist. They will need to hold one side of the awning and the hardware while standing on a ladder, as both people insert the hardware into the brackets on the structure.. Anonymous. Fri Aug 28 2026

I purchased a 10 foot and an 8‘ x 10 pergola. We put them side-by-side and we have created a beautiful area which will be a setting area and a hot tub area. Turned out nice. Had this professionally installed and mounted the post in concrete blocks to give more stability. The metal pieces itself is lightweight aluminum but when connected together it’s sturdy. Only gripe are the shade connector poles. Their means of connecting could be improved because they slide off & disconnect from one another every now & then but so far holds up well with rain when shade is pulled back.
