Assembly wasn't to difficult, but did take about 4 hours to put it together by myself. Hardest part was getting the bed slats that go under the mattress to line up with both sides of the frame to go into the holes, but once you figure it out it's smooth sailing. Overall, very solid and sturdy. Stairs are a nice touch over a ladder and the little shelf cubbies make a good place for small stuff. The space underneath is a perfect fit for a 78" couch. All in all, happy with the final product, despite the challenges of building it. Have built dozens of furniture items over the years, but I’ve never experienced such horrible instructions. Love this bed! It has a few quirks, though. First, I think if possible, you should put the side of the without the stairs against a wall to prevent too much wobbling. I tried stairs to the wall and had some movement when climbing in the bed. As for the height, I am a 55 adult, and I only need to duck a small amount to fit under the bed, so this bed is great for short adults and teens! I had my 6 foot friend test it out for fun, and he definitely didnt fit. For roof space, that varies from person to person Im sure, I have had a bunk bed most of my life so being close to the roof doesnt bother me, but if you get claustrophobic easily, mesure your room first and then yourself to make sure you have a sufficient amount of space. The bed itself can not be put together alone. You need at least one other person to help because it becomes a lot quickly. The boards are held together by tension, and its very secure, and I havent had any issues with it (my weight is 185 for reference). The lights that come with the bed are kinda cheap though, the options on the remote dont match what the lights do, so if you want the LED lights to have colors like pink, orange, yellow and most greens (its mostly blue and teal settings) get another strip from a different brand. For mattress size, Im sure a slim is definitely the way to go, but if you have a thicker mattress and arent at risk for rolling off the bed, then youll be alright, just mesure the thickness first so you know how itll fit, honestly measuring things is key with this bed, as long as you are happy with whatever mesuments you get, youll love this bed.. This is exactly what we were looking for and it arrived promptly. The box itself was damaged at both ends and that made it unwieldy to move it safely (it is very heavy!) but that was clearly weight to great for the construction of the packaging. They probably get damage claims because the box is insufficient protection for the weight of the metal. Moving on to assembly, it was straightforward to assemble following the instructions provided, and the lighting is a super bonus for us, but the product loses a star because Two of the long bolts and one of the short support pieces was missing from the box and so we cannot install those important supports. Not sure if we will move forward with use of the product without them, but as far as assembly and aesthetics, it is really good. Although we received it as part of a promotion, for the price currently advertised, we believe it is a good value (providing all the pieces are included and you can ensure the stability and safety in use.).
