The bed turned out to be exactly what my son wanted, and he loves it. The assembly took a while, and the instructions rely mostly on pictures, which can be a bit hard to follow. I saw some reviews mentioning issues with the mattress fasteners, but we used two on each open side and have not had any problems. Structurally well built. Instructional pictures could be a bit bigger and some of the parts didn’t have letter stickers but overall well pleased. Daughter loves lights. It did take us 4 hours, we are older parents. You do need to be able to crawl around on the floor most of the time to assemble it. The new memory foam is just released and is still inflating so it looks weird. We went with the 10” mattress so it should come right up to the bottom of the headboard/side board. I rarely write reviews, but I felt strongly enough about this piece that I wanted to inform others. Pretty disappointed. I have bought pieces from Lark Manor before and the quality on this bed is significantly less than I expected. This bed is OK and it will suffice, but would not purchase again. To start, this is NOT an easy assembly. It looks me approximately 8 hours to assemble and I've assembled a lot of furniture in my time. Directions are pictures with no words. Do yourself a favor and purchase the assembly. Also, please note that every single silver bolt in this bed is completely visible. If you are shopping on a mobile device (which I did) you won't see them in the picture, but once you view it on a large screen (and most definitely in person) they will pop out at you. In my opinion this makes the bed look pretty cheap. So they significantly detract from the otherwise nice look of the bed. Also, the bed slats are not super sturdy and there are only 3 support beams in the middle out of the 10 slats. They have a pretty significant bend to theme just putting a little body weight on them. I'm holding my breath for what happens once we put the mattress on it and my kid sleeps in it. If you just need something cheap and ok-ish, then this is the bed for you. I seriously regret this purchase but have put too much time and energy into it to replace it. It will be fine until my kid goes to college in a year.
