The rug has tones of gold, gray, brown, and cream. There are swirls of metallic threads throughout the rug. I was worried at first that in person it might be too gaudy. However, the metallic is very subtle and pretty. I notice it most when the light hits it just right or when the threads are moved a certain way after being walked on. The threads are pretty short, but the rug is comfortable to walk on. I have not noticed any shedding, so I think this rug would do well in a high traffic area. The rug also has enough color variation to hide small amounts of wear/dirt that are inevitable with use. The materials used all seem to be of high quality.
