The pattern will work somewhat strategically with pet traffic, and I feel I will get a longer use out of this rug than my last one. It's a low pile carpet and seems to be well constructed. No chemical smell upon opening. Picture is of the rug right out of the packaging. Thanks to other reviews, I know I will have to work it hard to get creases out. I may even shampoo it to help it relax, as I'm not super patient with this part of the process. It's perfect for this spot in my house and the pattern is a big plus to disguise dirt and pet hair.
