They were the perfect height I was looking for as why I bought these over metal ones.. They look really nice. I live in a state where we have red clay soil and so it is best to place after a rain or watering. I am not sure how far down they are supposed to go in the ground. Valley View Industries metal stakes (16-pack) are 9 in. contractor-grade metal stakes. Multiple uses with all Valley View lawn edgings, paver edging, tents, and holiday decorations. It is recommended that stakes are used every 5 ft. on designs that have the edging in straight lengths. Where there are curved designs for edgings, additional anchor stakes are recommended at the curve points. Anchor stakes should be staked in at a 45° angle.
