We love this dog house. We have a 110 pound German shepherd who prefers being outside. I never grew up with an outdoor dog so I was extremely hesitant to move him full time to our backyard, but this dog house made it an easier choice. He’s super happy and so are we. One thing to note is the installation is very tricky. We thought we could do it ourselves but we ended up paying someone 700 to build it for us. Once complete and set up its a decent enclosure. We got it for our chickens and attached the hen house to it, just left off a couple bars and zip tied the entrance right to it. The instructions absolutely suck and we wound up having to unbolt like 200+ connections to double up the gussets. Now, my wife and daughter got the base started and then asked for my help, I never questioned whether or not they started it correctly so perhaps they missed a step. The door is like waist high to my 6’ frame so it’s a definite crouch to get in there. I can stand in between the “roof trusses”. It has a good appearance and I wonder how it will hold up to the AZ monsoon winds. I used spiral drill in anchors to pin it down, no way the little stakes it came with will keep this in our yard in high winds. I am contemplating what to do in a couple years when the top is sun rotted away, there are only a few trusses to make the roofline and while it looks great, it does not take much to push it off level/plumb. To my amazement, this came in three relatively small, but heavy boxes and we were a few nuts and bolts short but they at least give you a spare parts bag, which had enough to complete the build. Be prepared that this comes in literally hundreds of individual pieces so it can look overwhelming, just follow it step by step and comes together rather nicely, be patient nd take your time. Where are all my poultry people at If you are anything like me youve got a house full of kids and a backyard full of chickens and ducks. The problem is is that we also have dogs. One dog doesnt care about the chickens but lets just say the other one does. Enter this kennel. It is super sturdy and very heavy duty. We arent using it to put the dogs in but in fact to keep them out. Not only will this provide protection from the dogs, it is fully enclosed and will provide extra protection from birds of prey and other predators like raccoons.
