Real wood, smells great like that cedar bark smell. Runs a tiny bit small, as I am short and my legs go basically to the end and my head is right at the top. I also am not sure it will hold up to huge people jumping on it or anything, but that's wood planks for ya. Assembly was quite easy, hardly needed the instructions. Torqued the bolts but am expecting to possibly lightly sand and/or stain it later to protect the wood, and possibly add wd-40 to some of the moving parts and lock tite to the bolts.. Alexander.
