The cabinet is metal, and while it’s not extremely sturdy when being moved — mainly because the back consists of two thin panels secured together — it feels perfectly stable once assembled and in place. The glass panels allow you to see the shoes, though I’m considering frosting them for a cleaner look since I don’t need them visible. Taller boots may not fit unless you remove or adjust a shelf. Nice shoe cabinet. There was one missing bolt and Wayfair was quick to respond and sent several replacement parts. My flat shoes, like Keds fit good. Four to five pair per compartment. My husband’s shoes don’t fit very well. Only two pair per compartment. We added legs to make it sit up higher than our baseboard trim for a closer wall fit. This is a solid cabinet, extremely sturdy and heavy. Do not let all the pieces discourage you, it is quite easy to assemble with just one person. It just takes some time. I recommend using wood glue for all the pegs, this is not in the instructions however, I have assembled a few cabinets, and it only helps the product. I was really worried about my size shoe being able to fit into it however, size 10's fit as well! The side cabinet for boots was a great choice; I was able fit four pairs into it. I have never had a cabinet like this, and I am on the hunt for another one! The cabinet is narrow enough to even be placed in a hallway, and even the closest. I am so happy with this purchase and it goes great in our kitchen living room area to store shoes as well as other small items. The shoe holder doors are a little difficult to assemble with how the hinges are, but it works. In looove with this shoe storage! I have a 12.5 shoe size so finding a shoe storage that fit my shoes is always a struggle.
