I just had the mailbox installed. It is VERY SOLID and heavy. Adds a lot of oopmh and curb appeal. Minus one star because some of the welding wasn't very clean and for the price I paid the seams should be perfect. Also, the screws that screw the mailbox to the base are very long. Exactly as expected. Strong, high quality mailbox that arrived quickly. Installation: Easy to attach to a mounting plate using the holes on the bottom of the exterior sides. It’s petty heavy, so be sure to attach to a strong post - I got the Gibraltar Landover post (which is actually hollow) and slid it over a 4x4 sunk 17” into the ground which is 30” above ground (so the 4x4 is a total of 47”). It looks great and was definitely worth the money to upgrade from the low-quality, dented mailbox that the prior owners had chosen. I got custom decals elsewhere to finish the look.. Marion. Great, sturdy mailbox. Looks fantastic. We now have by far the nicest mailbox on the street. It is pretty heavy (about 25lbs I believe) so make sure your post can handle it. Not a fan of the wood block for mounting. It will eventually rot. Would have liked to see a pvc product or similar. I love this mailbox. My first inclination was to have Handy install but decided to tackle it myself. I went on Etsy and ordered the classically styled numbers which I hope hold up over time (Etsy seller Hildahomedecor solid brass numbers) My handyman came over today and used liquid glue to lock in the finial so that it can’t be twisted off and disappear (I hadn’t even thought to do that) Project is complete except for getting the old post out!.
