Replacing another Eagle that blew away in a storm. Did a lot of research, ended with this weathervane. It is a classic but, it doesn’t seem to be so ostentatious. Liked the design better of the next size up, but thought it might be too large (tall) for my copula. It’s winter, so I have not climbed up to install it yet. Love the look!! Going to look great on our cupola. The balls feel plastic but that’s probably a good thing where weather is concerned. Overall it’s heavy and sturdy. Also purchased the lacquer to protect it. Only complaint is there’s no instructions or hardware provided to secure the weathervane to your cupola or roof. All though we did use the entire weather vain. The goose is what we were looking for, and it was perfect. Let me explain. We were task we building an interactive exhibit for display in the Dallas Arboretum. The exhibit was titled Jack's Bean Stalk thus the need for a goose to lay a golden egg. The goose is mounted on the top of a twenty foot wooden structure built to simulate a beanstalk growing to the sky. Quality cupola! I installed this on a backyard shed that has a ridge vent. I cut the ridge vent as recommended in the installation instructions - a bit nerve-racking, but it turned out fine. I stapled screen on the inside of the louvered section to keep wasps from setting up house inside. I added a weather vane - the inside bracket is sturdy. Very well made!. Scott. Pleasant Grove, UT. I like to start a review with the packaging. So, it came in a box, very well cared for inside, fragile label on all sides, and it arrived via FedEx in perfect condition. Good job, Fedex!! Upon assembly I noticed it was very straight forward (mechanical mind not necessary), the instructions were clear and written in my language. Looking at this beautiful piece fully assembled made me feel almost awe struck, with its glowing copper eagle, and brass cardinal directions. Solid piece! I've capped the cupola I'm building with it and it made it even more pretty! The only downside that I could find us that it does not come with the mount. Not really a downside though and if I had read the description better I would've known that before the purchase. You will love this piece.
