Wasn’t hard to build if you have any knowledge of cabinet construction. Generally looks nicer than comparable units because of the raised face door and drawers. This piece is much sturdier and heavier than I expected, which was a pleasant surprise once it was fully assembled. The overall quality feels solid and stable, and it definitely does not come across as flimsy or cheaply made. That said, the assembly process was far more difficult than it should have been. The instructions were not very clear, and none of the parts were labeled, which made the setup frustrating and time consuming. It ended up taking close to three hours to put together because of all the guesswork involved. One corner on the top section also did not line up perfectly, so that particular screw could not be tightened completely. Thankfully, it still seems stable overall, but the alignment issue was disappointing considering the amount of effort required to assemble it. Another thing buyers should know is that this item is extremely large once completed. I would strongly recommend assembling it inside the room where it will be used, because moving it afterward may be difficult. It is obvious that they missed an important step in the instructions regarding spring loaded latches for the inside of the left front gate. Both front doors can not be used. Only one front door slides on bar. The other side doors open but if you have them blocked by walls they are not accessible. I put it in a rv so both side doors are not accessible. I ended up just leaving front doors off and putting up a curtain. This is a beautiful crate. Perfect size for my 15 pound dog. It's obviously so much nicer than a traditional metal crate. I was initially concerned that the lock would be too weak to keep the door closed, but it's great! It's a very secure lock. The crate door slides up and under the drawer, which saves on space.
