This crate is perfect. The packaging protected the product during shipping. The instructions were easy to follow (not always the case with furniture). It took less than 30 minutes to build and it is solid, which is great because our dog is an escape artist! I was a little worried by the 1 star and 2 star reviews about the latching hardware not being good. PLEASE IGNORE THOSE! It is obvious that they missed an important step in the instructions regarding spring loaded latches for the inside of the left front gate. This is eye catching. It is a nice edition to my bed room where I was able to find a matching nightstand, and the dog crate for the other side of the bed. It was easy to put together and there were extra parts in case one was lost or not functional. The cage itself is not made for a dog that does not want to be in it. There is no metal on the inside, It is easy to use and my dog (miniature pincher) has ample room to stretch out or lay on his side. I am pleased with the purchase. It arrived in a box that was dented and broken (not the senders fault most likely the delivery co) BUT because the sender packs it tightly with lots of Styrofoam there was NO damage to any of the parts. And because they are meticulous with packaging very well nothing was missing. They take very good care in packaging the item to keep it from any damage or loss. If there is bad reviews it’s most likely people that do not know how to put things together or are expecting a designer piece for the price of a discount store item. I was really disappointed to find that this bed isn't truly waterproof... I ordered it to donate to a foster program, and thought it would be perfect for new kittens/puppies and their mothers - they can be pretty messy. :( The outer nylon cover is absolutely waterproof and as heavy and chew-resistant as described, but I dribbled water on the furry mattress cover and found that the interior was damp after a minute. I still rate it high though, and recommend it. I'll tell them to use pee-pads over the mattress and it'll work well. It's very well made from nice materials. The mattress is stiff enough to not crush over time, but is also very supportive and comfortable. The side rails are stiff enough to stay upright and not sag under a heavy head. The non- skid bottom is actually "tacky" enough to really be non-skid. All of those qualities make it a better bed than most.
