This is an older style of casement lock painted antique brass on zinc diecast and used on older style wood casement windows. The three different keepers allow for most mounting applications whether it be a swing in or swing out casement window. Installation screws are included. Besides being used on casement windows, it is often used on cupboards and cabinets for that Retro look.

This casement sash lock is constructed of diecast and comes in a white painted finish. It features 3 different strike plates for use with push-out and swing-in casement windows that are not operated with a standard crank-out operator. The steel rim strike (1 in. x 1-3/8 in.) and the diecast surface strike (1/2 in. x 2 in.) included with this item are used for swing-in casements commonly hung with steel butt hinges. The steel mortise strike (11/16 in. x 2-7/16 in.) is for use with push-out casements, also commonly hung with steel butt hinges. Some mortising may be required when installing the rim strike or mortise strike. All fasteners are included with lock hardware. These locks are used on old style wood casement windows.

There were no specifications with the item description so I was hoping it would be a universal fit for my vinyl double hung windows. However, it is not universal. The spacing of the screw holes are narrower than my existing window sash locks, and the back plate is too deep for my windows — this will not fit properly. I’d give 4 stars if the specifications were listed. This will probably work if you have a different window size or a wooden double hung that doesn’t have an existing lock. I wanted something with additional security. I’m keeping this in the original packaging as this will be donated since I can’t use it. The Prime-Line F 2858 Cam Action Window Lock replaces or upgrades the sash lock on single and double hung vinyl windows. This small window latch is constructed from diecast and comes finished in classic bronze. Mounting hardware included. A Phillips head screwdriver is required for installation. The window latch replacement features a cam action hook which draws the classic bronze sash lock keeper tight when locked. The body of the prime-line window latch has anti-jimmy studs which engage the keeper of the window lock replacement. For further dimensional information, please see the line drawing.

I bought these to rejuvenate our décor. The color is perfect (black), but the overall quality was not as good as the ones I was taking out from two decade ago (no big surprise there, I guess).
