This has been a great addition to our cats’ furniture collection! The smalleryounger cat loves to sleep on the flower on top, which is made of something like memory foam, but a bit denser. I imagine it is somewhat self-heating and also helps to hold onto the heat from the window. My largest cat loves the middle level basket. She will curl up in it for hours and has since I took it out of the box. Her sister is terrified of the entire thing and avoids even being near it. I have no idea why. I picked it because it had 3 levels, and they are always together, but it has not appealed to her yet. This was difficult to put together as the instructions were not clear. We opted to not use the included wood glue (it would not actually hold the wood in place) and use gorilla glue instead. We also did not use the large dowel rods to make the small fence. I felt it could trap my cat's leg and cause an injury. We took the top section and glued it directly to the base to cover the pre drilled holes. There were a few other small issues, no holes drilled for the hammock, and the pine oil was still heavy in parts. We decided to glue the hammock and I just wiped the pine oil off with a towel in the thick areas and it all came off. The shelf gets 5 stars from “Mona Lisa”, a 9lb. 1yr old kitty. On the other hand “Miss Piggy”, a 13 lb 4yr old cat, says this is a nicely built 5 star quality kitty shelf, great for climbing and dodging the other cats, but it only gets 3 stars for comfort. It’s a great quality shelf, but “Mona Lisa” is the only cat who will use this shelf to relax in, since she’s so small. I selected this enclosure in order to fit my cat's Tidy Cats Breeze XL litter box & the best area in my small apt. it can reside. All of the other cat box enclosures (I got tired of looking) are smaller. I would give it 5 stars if it were a bit taller & had a bigger side entrance. You may want to enlarge the cat entry prior to assembling, if you're using a larger litter box. I love how open it is. I kind of wish this one came with the step. Im not sure if the cats would use it, though. I already have one, and it has the front opening. My cats are both good size. This ones a little bit easier. I think for cats to go in and out of. Im not sure how long the bottom piece will last as it seems to be more material than hard plastic. I have had this now for about a month and I love it. I plan on getting another one and replacing the other one as they use this one most often. The other is the typical small opening and the waste draw is small and always needs to be adjusted as nothing falls forward and I can't find the right size bags, no company to order supplies from.. Beautiful cat tree, and my cat has grown to love it! He’s 7yo and about 14 pounds. I had two concerns while purchasing 1) how hard would it be to put together and 2) how sturdy would it be. It was relatively easy to put together with well marked parts and photo instructions. It has a very wide square base so I’m not longer worried about it tipping however, when my cat gets to the very top basket and is moving around it appears to shake quite a bit - enough to make me a little nervous. All the parts are sturdy and after 2 months of having it, I can confirm that it hasn’t tipped at all. I love this cat tree.
