This casement sash lock is constructed of diecast and comes in a white painted finish. It features 3 different strike plates for use with push-out and swing-in casement windows that are not operated with a standard crank-out operator. The steel rim strike (1 in. x 1-3/8 in.) and the diecast surface strike (1/2 in. x 2 in.) included with this item are used for swing-in casements commonly hung with steel butt hinges. The steel mortise strike (11/16 in. x 2-7/16 in.) is for use with push-out casements, also commonly hung with steel butt hinges. Some mortising may be required when installing the rim strike or mortise strike. All fasteners are included with lock hardware. These locks are used on old style wood casement windows.

This is an older style of casement lock painted antique brass on zinc diecast and used on older style wood casement windows. The three different keepers allow for most mounting applications whether it be a swing in or swing out casement window. Installation screws are included. Besides being used on casement windows, it is often used on cupboards and cabinets for that Retro look.

There were no specifications with the item description so I was hoping it would be a universal fit for my vinyl double hung windows. However, it is not universal. The spacing of the screw holes are narrower than my existing window sash locks, and the back plate is too deep for my windows — this will not fit properly. I’d give 4 stars if the specifications were listed. This will probably work if you have a different window size or a wooden double hung that doesn’t have an existing lock. I wanted something with additional security. I’m keeping this in the original packaging as this will be donated since I can’t use it. The second pic is my existing window for comparison of the screw spacing and size of the back plate. Also please note the lead disclaimer on the back of the packaging.. Shopaholic. Princeton, WI. This is a great product! I was excited to install on bathroom window after I painted, I checked where it would go to try out the lock and Dang it! My windows aren’t level! So I’m going to have to build up one to sit even as the lock is a very secure and tight fit, I didn’t know a keyed window lock existed. Once I figure out how to build up the wood I’ll insert a finished product picture, the picture here shows defect of my frame. Also the key will not come out of lock in the open position. Gail.
