Easy to put together by myself. Took me about 35 minutes. Some of the metal to metal holes didn’t line up but all the other holes were pretty close enough to use the sharp screws. Haven’t bolted them to the porch floor yet so cannot review how well these stand up to high winds. Had a very strong urea smell so glad these are outside and not inside. I love that this bookshelf shipped in one box. It was heavy! It took me and my partner about 3 hours to assemble. All the instructions were not clear but we managed to get it done. Shelf seems pretty sturdy! It is also pretty tall so measure first. I have high ceilings and still have about 2 - 3 feet to the ceiling after placing my monitor on top. I wouldn’t say it is heavy duty made of the similar material from the 30 shelf I replaced. I love how it fits perfectly in the corner of my bedroom. There is plenty of storage space. The shelf comes with black tabs that you are supposed to use to cover the screws…. They don’t stick well and they are already starting to peel up. Beautiful piece, and heavier/more solidly built than similar designs. Overall I'm happy with it, though it did arrive with some minor damage to one of the panels, and as others have noted, the white finish does rub off easily and get everywhere. I think I can easily repair the broken areas with wood glue and have decided to repaint it anyway (the distressing is uneven and makes the piece look lower quality than it is, the white is very chalky and uneven). The packaging was pretty good, but I don't know why they don't put a thin layer of foam between the panels, I think a lot of the breakage issues could be avoided with 1/4" thick sheet of foam to cushion the filigree work. The cutouts are very "rustic," so expect some rough areas and inconsistencies. The overall impression is still very nice, but I wouldn't put it near anything that could get snagged. A wonderful plus: my cat, who climbs everything, has not been able to scale this yet. I'm sure he'll keep trying, and maybe eventually manage it, but for now he has made 2 attempts and failed to get over it or knock it down, it's pretty sturdy.. Kimberly. El Cajon, CA.
