Gable vents are fitted with horizontal ventilation slats called louvers. You can add a mesh screen to be placed behind the vent. This allows air to circulate while keeping outside elements where they belong. A gable mounted ventilator helps to push air through the louvers. Replacing another Eagle that blew away in a storm. Did a lot of research, ended with this weathervane. It is a classic but, it doesn’t seem to be so ostentatious. Liked the design better of the next size up, but thought it might be too large (tall) for my copula. It’s winter, so I have not climbed up to install it yet.
