I have have this umbrella for two years and am very happy with it. The fabric is not Sumbrella, which I consider to be the best canvas for umbrellas, but this fabric is holding up pretty well. Be sure to keep it clean, and keep wasps, and other insects from making nests as they can damage the fabric, as well as sting you :-). I do not have a traditional base. I was having a patio poured, so had a metal holder installed. You can even install this type of holder later as well, and I recommend them as there is no tripping over big bulky stands.. Cindy.
