I purchased the Vornado Portal Low Profile Window Fan for our nearly 200-year-old farmhouse, which does not have central air conditioning, and it has made a noticeable difference in keeping the house comfortable. Instead of just blowing air left and right, it moves in a 3-dimensional wave pattern that really circulates the air. It is super quiet! In the low settings you can barely hear it.
